[ There's a matter at hand that Mirage wished to discuss, but not for her own benefit, merely her curiosity. Unfortunately, her own wish orb fizzled out and disappeared, not to her dismay or anything. The favor was...appreciated, however, she couldn't find a sincere----nor oddly specific way to use it. She wasn't nearly as selfless as Kronk was, and neither was she in want of anything she couldn't get herself. Unfortunately, she knew anything that she planned would....well, take a matter of well thought out weeks. Instead, she let the favor expire. ]

I'm curious as to what my students, or fellow faculty used their wishing orb for, if they used it at all.

You don't have to tell me, I'm merely curious.

[Kronk's thought really, really hard about what he wants his one wish to be. After that, it only takes a minute for him to whip up a big cupcake, cover it with pink frosting and dot it with a big cherry and a tiny candle.]

Can you pretty please make sure Chicha gets this?

[The cupcake and it's lit candle slowly dematerialize until there's only the faintest bit of light hovering where it once hung before disappearing utterly. He could've wished for a fondue set that never gets crusty, or something delicious, but this is the best, and nicest, way to spend his one wish.]

[ Elinor's initial approach to the Academy hadn't gone exactly as planned, the tram had really taken her and Bridgette by surprise. Finally, she found herself back on side saddle again with her belongings. The comfort of the plush seats was appealing, but unnatural---the saddle was more to her liking, however many hours she'd already spent on it. The quiet clop of the Clydesdale's hooves brought her through the Transit Center (without a second care as to whether it was proper or not) and out into the Quad. Already, she was lost. So many odd looking buildings. Even the concrete bothered Bridgette, who trotted restlessly in place. ]

Hello?

[ Pulling her reigns to the side, Elinor got a good look of the campus, and trotted with Bridgette to the...fountain, which didn't look particularly appealing as far as drinking went. This place was vastly different than home, and she was slowly beginning to realize it. Just what had she and Fergus signed her up for? ]

Hello, dears. This is your Fairy Godmother checking in with you all.

Headmaster Mouse has yet to return from his... business trip. But don't you fret; we'll find him soon.

[...Probably should have worded that differently. Fairy Godmother quickly continues.]

In the meantime, I'm just here to remind you to stay out of the woods; there's been... a recent surge in wildcats in the area, yes, yes, that's it! And we certainly don't want anybody hurt!

To keep you all entertained in the meantime, and as a token of thanks for your cooperation thus far, I've decided to give everyone, staff included, a wish orb; you'll find them on top of your bedside tables.

They cannot bring back the dead, kill anything, not even a weed, or change the free will of others. However, they can do anything else your heart desires; the only limit is your imagination and specificity.

But remember this: you have only one wish; once you make it, the orb will disappear. Wishes will last for exactly one week, to the second. After those seven days, you will return to normal. So choose your wish wisely.

I hope you have fun, my dears, and I hope you continue to enjoy summer break.

[ The past few weeks had only been Mirage working out curriculum, spending long hours in her office drafting worksheets, paperwork, and syllabi. Once she had the school year ready to go and organized by drawer in her filing cabinets, she set forward to do some of her own work, on a more focused subject; networking her computer to the one left in her workspace at the facility.

It'd been a long and grueling week, spending most of her time hardwiring, rewiring, reprogramming and overall frustration over her laptop, until one evening, she's got it working with several platforms, monitors, separate laptops, a datapad with a keyboard equipped, and a wireless terminal. It's a lot of equipment for only her office, and it's only fair that while she's gathering her belongings to move to her dorm she trips on a power cord. She goes tumbling down in her heels, and is quick to catch herself, but, so will everyone else with her communicator halfway across the room now, with it's little red light on. ]

[It's early in the morning. Very early. About fifteen minutes past dawn.

Lieutenant Helga Sinclair is on the track of the Academy. She isn't bold enough to try her own obstacle course yet-- but she will be able to run it in perfect time before the semester starts.

Instead, dressed in only her khaki pants, boots, tanktop, and gloves, she leans forward on the painted track... and runs. Runs hard. She can feel the muscles burning. Shoulders, neck, back, ribs, hips, legs, arms. There wasn't a single part of her left undamaged by that fall, and everything is still trying desperately to mend.

And she's pushing just as desperately to be back in fighting shape.

...She makes it to her goal. Takes two steps, and slides to her knees, trying to hide how out of breath she is.

"C'mon, Lieutenant. You can do better than that."

It's mockery and motivation in one. She can't let him see her beat, and she has to do him proud.

Under her breath, she mutters:] Damn you, Rourke.

[Before he tries to force herself back to her feet. Her left side, though, is having none of that, and the muscles spasm hard. She sinks back to her knees with a hissed curse. Or ten.]

[Don't mind everyone's favorite pint-sized lass dancing and singing to herself on the window sill in the Joe West commons. Seems someone's enjoying the open window and summer breeze without sticking herself in the path of feet. All the while... she's reminiscing, wondering... if somewhere out there, Cornelius was feeling the same touch of the gentle wind against his skin, the same warmth of the sun.]

[The feed clicks on to reveal Kronk in the school's gymnasium, going through his morning work-out - which involves rapid push-ups, carried out to the tune of a tinny record player, which plays the following song to the tune of a Suza march. He actually did this in the hopes of showing off to the new gym teacher ~~and impress Esmeralda~~ but in the process he's accidentally showing off for everyone in the school.]

Kuzco Rules!
And the Kuzco is Kuzco foreeeever!
HE is awesome and really cooool!
You should buy him LOOOTS OF STUFF!

[The rhythm is infections ~~even though the words leave something to be desired~~ and pretty soon he tries a few of the one-armed variety. It all goes well, until he tries to stand up and manages to flip himself backwards into a pile of medicine balls.

A very large pile that rolls all over the floor, causing Kronk to blink in utter surprise as he tries to wriggle his way out from under the lumpy stack.]

Uh...can anybody come lend a hand? I'm stuck!

Whew... I'm glad all that horrible Mist is gone. Is everyone alright still?

[She had checked in briefly with most of her acquaintances while the Strangelings were haunting the grounds, but she'd be much happier knowing everyone is in one piece.]

Also, if any of you see Hero, could you bring him to me? He was so glad to be able to go outside without worrying, and he took off after a frog.

[Poor Thumbelina is sort of stuck in a planter outside of Joe West. Feel free to lend her a hand.]

[GOOD NEWS, ACADEMY. No device has been invented to-day, but should you wake to the peaceful quiet and look out the windows, you'll notice that the Mist is quite gone.]

[That's right, Academy. Aside from that odd, inexplicable dome of Mist around the Academy, nothing else around the world has changed. Strange? Perhaps. Unsettling? Absolutely.

Enjoy the peace while it lasts; the Magic Mirror doesn't seem too hopeful about it. Then again, that might just be his general grim outlook.]

[ Perfect day for the Mist to show up, really. Mirage is only pestered by the whispers for now, the unpleasant undertones of it all reeking familiarity. She denied herself the pain of listening to them, her patience soundly firm, at least, for now.

It isn't for a while that she goes to check on her students, mainly because she's put herself and her security first. Making sure the noise wasn't leaking in from her window (something she realized after checking the bathroom and hearing no difference in volume) as well as securing what little valuables she had was most important. Papers were pulled, plans were stowed messily and unorganized in her journal in a small fit of panic. After gathering herself and her confidence, she looks to the communicator. Okay. Deeps breaths. It was just like the facility. Stern hand, strong will, and nothing will happen. ]

If the Joe West third floor could report in to me, I would appreciate it. I know there aren't many of us, but preparation is key.

And if you don't have a...partner, I would be willing to escort you.

[Demyx lasted all of an hour before he couldn't take it anymore. Arpeggio strapped to his back, Demyx starts heading out onto the quad and towards the Strangelings. Anyone who approaches him might get splashed, or they might get a completely emotionless response.]

-Stay indoors at all costs. Do not approach the borders of the school under any circumstances.

-Buddy system is now mandatory. Find a friend and stick with them.

-Classes are cancelled. Staff, monitor students and keep tabs on them; report immediately if anyone goes missing.

-School is effectively on lock down. Avoid walking between buildings unless absolutely necessary.]

((OOC: Okay guys! This is a super, surprise BME! Psych! No prom for yous. Anyways, there's literally a dome of Strangelings covering the school, and these Strangelings are ALL calling out to your character and are trying to lure them out! Characters more sensitive to the Mist will be more adversely affected, making the voices clearer and louder. Those who aren't will notice constant whisper noise, some words and phrases clear, others not so much. It's up to you guys to determine for yourselves how awful this is on your character based on their unique experiences.

Muns are more than welcome to have the psychological torment be too much for their characters and allow them to give in and venture out to the Strangelings. In which case, put "Strangeling" somewhere in your subject bar, and we mods will be ready with the Strangelings when your character approaches them. This BME differs in that instead of the Strangelings seeking YOUR CHARACTER out, your character has to seek THEM out.

Needless to say... the dance has been cancelled.

You're all surrounded.

There's no way out.

Students and Staff will notice that thousands of inhuman voices are calling to them. To some, the sound is mere whispers, impossible to understand. To others, it will be as clear as day, horribly loud, pounding within the skull. However, they won't stop. They'll keep going and going, testing your mental stamina, testing your ability to stay sane.

Should anyone venture outside, they will notice that a Misty dome has settled over the school... but there's far more to this dome than just Mist. The "fabric" of this dome is comprised of thousands of Strangelings, their cold, painful tendrils reaching out for the souls rich in fear below them. They're beckoning.

Hello, students.

[She could have waited until later in the summer to come. She's quite aware of that.

Coming at the end of term with no intentions to hold a summer class might have seemed pointless to some. To her, though, it was the only course of action.]

I am Lieutenant Helga Sinclair.

[She couldn't stand to stay at Whitmore's, not now that she was recovered enough to be mobile.

This gives her a couple months to acquaint herself with the campus while she continues to regain her strength.]

I will be teaching Advanced Physical Education and Marksmanship when the next term begins.

[The summer also gave her plenty of time to get the supplies she would need for the latter.]

To my fellow faculty members: I hope you will help me with the inevitably necessary but unwritten rules that apply here. I'd prefer [for now] not to step on any toes.

Howdy, staff and students! I hope you're all doin' swell!

This is just a friendly reminder to study hard for those upcoming finals, and that we will have a small summer break after that! Students and staff are free to return home for the summer if they please, but the school will remain open for those who don't!

In addition, summer courses will be available to any teachers who want to offer them or for students who need to retake anything or get bored easily.

I think that's about it---

Actually, there is one more thing, folks! All forest and wood areas are off limits. We're doin' a bit of investigatin', and we sure don't want anybody accidentally causin' trouble! [Or, you know... disappearing.]

[As the communicator first clicks on and hums to life, students and staff might get a lovely view of a dog's nostrils; seems like Hero's not sure what to make of this strange, metal box, and it just happens to be his duty to make sure it's safe. A sweet voice calls from just immediately off-screen.]

Oh Hero, you silly thing. Move aside.

[The dog barks, but complies, backing up a bit and lying down. Soon enough, though, a much more pleasant visage is pictured on-screen. Actually, more than a visage... nearly a whole body! The tiny but undoubtedly lovely girl peers into the lens, tapping it, her eyes filled with curiosity and confusion.]

Hello? Is anybody in there? That's odd... I could have sworn the receptionist said I could somehow talk to people with this...

[Her lips purse and her arms cross; it's clear she's "deep" in thought. Currently, she's pondering if this box was somehow special, somehow magical. It makes no sense with what technology level she’s used to! And besides, she knows she's the only non-fairy her size, and nothing else could fit into such a box.

The ginger-haired girl looks over her shoulder to address the aged canine behind her.]

What do you think Hero? Am I doing this right?

[The dog nods enthusiastically, though he hardly has a clue himself. Attentions now returned onto the lens, she tries to speak again and hopes that she's followed the instructions correctly.]

Well, if anyone can hear me... would you let me know if you see any fairies around school?

Meanwhile, the weather warms and the skies clear

[Good news is the Mist has technically meandered away from the school; bad news is it has darkened significantly around the corners of the world. But who cares? Summer's clearly around the corner, the rain showers have stopped, and everything is bright and cheery!

[Kronk's in the kitchens once again, and he's wrist deep in a pan of cookie dough when he flicks his communicator on with his free hand.]

Time'sve been tough around this spooky old school lately. I keep losing students all over the place. And friends.

[He grows visibly sad for just a moment before his eyes brighten.]

So I thought I'd get everyone excited about spring!

[The camera angle changes as Kronk tucks the communicator under his chin, pulls his hand out of the cookie dough, and focuses in on a plate of steaming-hot tea cakes lying on a platter.]

I call 'em Spring Rolls! They're filled with rains and cinnamon and all kinds of good stuff, and for all of next month they're half-off at the cafeteria when you buy lunch!

[He puts down the camera on the counter again, wiping his cookie-dough-covered hands on his apron.]

They always make me feel better; I hope they do the same for you.

[He pops one into his mouth with his cleaned hands and goes back to stirring the cookie dough.]
